Boot fair ban hits school funds in Louth
A school in Louth, Lincolnshire, will have to look for alternative ways to raise funds for school equipment after the local council banned them from holding boot fairs.
St Michael's C of E Primary School usually holds boot fairs on a monthly basis for around 30 cars during the summer months and raises around £1,000 doing so for school funds.
East Lindsey District Council has now decided however to enforce national legislation which bans car boot sales and other markets taking place within six and two thirds of a mile from a traditional market on a market day.
Louth Market is open three days a week, including Saturdays, which is when the school usually holds its car boot fairs. It can't hold them on Sundays because the school is used by a local church.
